Classical meaning

Piglets and fish are auspicious. It is favorable to cross the great river. Righteousness is favorable.

中孚。豚魚吉。利涉大川。利貞。

Image: Wind over the lake: the image of inner truth. The superior man considers the cases and delays punishment, seeking sincerity.

It refers to profound authenticity, inner faith, and spiritual sincerity.

The six lines

Line 1. Inner Truth – To sense and nurture brings good fortune. With others, there is no rest. Trust your intuition and remain vigilant. Avoid settling into relationships that are still unstable.
Line 2. Inner Truth – A crane sings in the shadow, and its chicks respond. I have a fine cup; with you, I share it. Let your inner voice call forth what is kindred. Share merits and joys: trust multiplies.
Line 3. Inner Truth – Encounter the adversary: sometimes the drum sounds, sometimes it ceases; sometimes it cries, sometimes it sings. Align yourself with what is true. When sincerity is steadfast, inconstancy ceases.
Line 4. Inner Truth – The nearly full moon. The paired horses are lost. No blame. Accept necessary separations at their peak. What is sincere returns at the right time.
Line 5. Inner Truth – Sincerity bound as if by ties. Without guilt. Honor commitments with loyalty. Bonds of trust uphold difficult decisions.
Line 6. Inner Truth – The winged voice ascends to the heavens. To persist is disastrous. Avoid the ostentation of the sincere. Inner truth is humble; do not force it beyond its limit.
