Hexagram 14, The Great Possession — the six lines

Classical meaning

Great possession. Supreme success.

大有。元亨。

Image: Fire in the high sky: the image of great possession. The noble person avoids evil and promotes good, thus obeying the will of heaven.

It represents spiritual or material wealth obtained with integrity.

The six lines

Line 1. No harmful associations. There is no fault. Amid difficulties, there will be no error. Avoid bad alliances at the beginning. If you remain steadfast in the face of trials, you will proceed without blame.
Line 2. A great chariot carries the load. There is a destination to go to. No guilt. Make use of the support and structure you have. Employ your strength to move forward, for the path is favorable.
Line 3. The noble offers sacrifices to the Son of Heaven. The small man cannot. Be upright and dedicated in your position. Do not seek greatness without the necessary virtue, for it will not yield results.
Line 4. It is not your own abundance. Without guilt. Accept the benefits that are not direct fruits of your actions. Gratitude preserves you without guilt.
Line 5. Your sincerity is solid and inspiring. Your authority is respected. Auspicious. Lead with sincerity and firmness. When faith and respect meet, all becomes favorable.
Line 6. Protection comes from Heaven. Auspicious, nothing will fail to be beneficial. Trust in favorable destiny. When strength harmonizes with Heaven, all flows without obstacles.
