Hexagram 40 — The Liberation Xie
Classical meaning
It is favorable to proceed southwest. If there is nowhere to go, returning brings good fortune. If there is a destination, departing early brings good fortune.
解。利西南。無所往。其來復吉。有攸往。夙吉。
Image: Thunder and rain arise together: the image of liberation. Thus, the noble person forgives mistakes and works towards the relief of difficulties.

The six lines
Line 1. Liberation – No guilt. Do not hesitate to take the first step to free yourself from burden. The simple action is already right.
Line 2. Liberation – In the hunt, three foxes and golden arrows are obtained. Perseverance brings fortune. With clarity and discipline, you remove obstacles and acquire valuable resources.
Line 3. Liberation – Bearing burdens while riding invites thieves. Even with perseverance, there is shame. Simplify. Do not accumulate unnecessary responsibilities, for this will attract problems.
Line 4. Liberation – Freeing oneself even from the toes, friends arrive in trust. Let go of small attachments, and you will gain allies who strengthen your journey.
Line 5. Liberation – The noble man brings liberation. Fortune. His sincerity inspires even the humble. Use your influence to liberate others. Thus, you will bring harmony and blessing.
Line 6. The Liberation – The duke shoots the hawk on the high wall. He captures it. Nothing but advantage. Be prepared to act with firmness and precision. The right opportunity will bring complete victory.
